🌟Local Kiddo SF

Your weekend plans, handled.

📆Issue No. 49 - January 3-4, 2026

Happy Friday, friends! Welcome to 2026! New year, fresh start, same commitment to getting you and your kiddos out of the house for adventures worth having.

Last chance: Circus Bella's Starlight closes this weekend at The Crossing at East Cut. If you've been meaning to catch our beloved local circus's holiday show, this is it, final performances Saturday and Sunday. Also closing, Lightscape at SF Botanical Garden wraps up this weekend. Yes, the weather has been absolutely drenching us lately, but if you can find a dry-ish window, it's worth the soggy shoes.

This weekend is all about fresh starts and creative energy. It's a quieter weekend than usual, the holiday rush is officially over and everyone's catching their breath. Saturday brings a New Year's Resolutions workshop for kids at the library, and Sunday the Asian Art Museum has an AR scavenger hunt that blends art and technology in the coolest way.

Now, let's get into the weekend.

Weekend Highlights

This is it, your last chance to see Circus Bella's winter circus spectacular. Local circus artists doing what they do best: aerial acts, acrobatics, clowning, and all the wonder that live circus brings. Circus Bella is an SF treasure, and Starlight has been lighting up the East Cut all season. Don't let it close without you. Final performances this weekend at 1pm.

Worth Knowing:

  • Tickets from $52.50-$78.25

Start 2026 with intention, even the little ones! This kid-friendly workshop, decorating a frame for your kiddo’s resolutions helps them think about goals and wishes for the new year. It's a sweet way to introduce the concept of reflection and goal-setting, plus it's free at the library.

  • Saturday, January 3, 10:30am-11:30am

  • SFPL Parkside, 1200 Taraval Street

The intersection of art and technology comes alive at the Asian Art Museum. This AR (augmented reality) scavenger hunt allows you and your kiddo to explore the museum in a whole new way, using technology to discover and interact with art. If you've got a kiddo who loves screens, this is a genius way to channel that energy into something cultural, and if you've got a kiddo who loves art, the tech angle adds a fresh twist. Win-win.

Worth Knowing:

  • Sunday, January 4, 10:30am-4:00pm

  • Asian Art Museum, 200 Larkin Street

  • Free
